Malaysians should defer all non-essential travel to Rakhine in Myanmar amid an escalation in violence.

Sep 06, 2017

Malaysians should defer all non-essential travel to Rakhine in Myanmar amid an escalation in violence.

Wisma Putra says all Malaysians still in Myanmar should also take safety precautions.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry summoned the Myanmar Ambassador to M'sia yesterday, to express our displeasure on the violence in Rakhine.

The Malaysian govt is unhappy Myanmar has yet to handle the situation or even shown a desire to do so, despite repeated calls by ASEAN members.

Wisma Putra has also called on Nobel Peace Prize winner and Myanmar political leader Aung San Suu Kyi to step up and stop the violence.
