There are plans to increase cigarette prices

There are plans to increase cigarette prices to as much as 21 ringgit 50 sen per pack, as part of efforts to deter people from smoking.

The Health Ministry says this will be in the Tobacco Products and Cigarettes Bill, which will be tabled in parliament by next year.

The bill will also seek to raise the legal age to buy and sell cigarettes from 18 to 21.
