Senior citizens set to outnumber youths after 2045

A government study has found that Malaysians aged 60 and above will outnumber the country's youth under 15 after 2045.

Each group is expected to make up 20 percent of the country's total population in 28 years, with the elderly to outnumber the youth from then on.

This has been explained as a by-product of development and improved health structures and systems that extend life expectancy.
