AG's Chambers appeal light sentence handed to Datin in maid abuse case

The Attorney General's chambers is appealing the light sentence handed to a Datin who was detained for a case of maid abuse. 

This comes days after a PJ Court sentenced the housewife to a 5-year-bond of good behaviour, after she pleaded guilty to a charge of causing grievous hurt. 

The non-custodial sentence was condemned by the public and rights groups.

The case made headlines in 2016, after the maid was found lying on the road, badly injured due to her abuse.
