Man detained in connection to Tawau fire

Police have detained a man for investigations, in connection with a fire that destroyed 60 squatter houses in Tawau, Sabah.

The man is believed to have set fire to his own rented house first, after the owner ordered him to evict the premises for failing to pay rent.

The suspect has no previous criminal record, but has tested positive for drugs.

The blaze earlier this morning, left hundreds of people homeless.
