Hundreds of cats and dogs to be vaccinated this week

Some 500 cats and dogs in five rabies-infected villages in Serian, Sarawak, are expected to be vaccinated this week. 

The state government says Veterinary Services Department personnel have already been deployed within a 10km radius of the affected areas to carry out the vaccinations. 

It says that the operation is currently going well, adding that it is confident of containing the outbreak as soon as possible. 

It comes after two young siblings who were infected with rabies, died yesterday. 

Another 7-year-old girl who had also been infected, remains in critical condition.
