Najib won't be de-facto UMNO leader

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will not be made UMNO's de-facto leader because there's no such position in the party's consitution.

The party's sec-gen was responding to a comment from Sungai Besar UMNO chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos.

Seperately, former UMNO Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin has warned more people will leave the party unless the upcoming UMNO general assembly gives members a clear direction for the future.

This comes after Cheras UMNO's division chief quit the party yesterday - the third high profile member to do so in two weeks.

Clear path to Parliament for Anwar?

PAS believes Barisan Nasional's decision to boycott the Port Dickson by-election is akin to giving PKR's Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim a free ride to Parliament.

However, the Islamic party is yet to decide on whether it will contest, with nomination day coming on Saturday.

Separately, the Johor PKR elections scheduled for Sunday will continue as planned, despite the e-voting issues experienced by Kedah and Penang last weekend.

The state PKR chief said it's normal to have fledgling problems with a new system, and asked members to be patient.
