PPIM calls for tighter neighbourhood security

Jul 27, 2018

The government has been urged to set up volunteer teams in housing areas to tackle security issues and child abuse.

Malaysian Muslim Consumer Association (PPIM) lead activist, Nadzim Johan says this will make people more aware of what's happening in their neighbourhoods.

It says these groups would monitor and identify issues in their respective housing areas.

The volunteers will be able to lodge reports on any untoward incidents for action by relevant authorities.

This comes following the case of a 10-year-old boy in Kuantan, who died after he was allegedly abused by his biological mother.

And, the death of five-month-old Adam Rayqal who was found stuffed inside a freezer at his babysitter's home.

Meanwhile, PPIM has called on kindergartens and child nurseries to install CCTVs.

The footage should also be available online, to allow parents to monitor their kids while they are at work.
