Old folks home razed in deadly fire was operating illegaly

The old folks home in Sungai Long, Kajang, which was razed in a fire today, was operating without a permit.

The Kajang Municipal Council says it will consider taking action against the operator, pending investigations.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department spokesman Mohd Sani Harul says they will be working together with other relevant authorities to probe the cause of the fire.

Five people were killed in the early morning fire, which is believed to have started from the living room.
