Lawyers want retrial for man convicted of sexually assaulting his daughter more than 600 times

Lawyers of a man who pleaded guilty to more than 600 charges of sexually assaulting his daughter, have asked for a retrial over possible irregularities in the case.

The 37-year-old suspect had initially claimed trial at the Putrajaya Sessions Court in August, but later changed his plea.

He was sentenced to 48 years in prison and 24 strokes of the cane, before appealing against his sentence in December.

A KL High Court judge says last year's court proceedings will be reviewed before any retrial is considered.
