PH and Tun M lose crowd in approval ratings

Apr 27, 2019

The approval rating of the Pakatan Harapan government and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's performance as Prime Minister has dropped, according to a Merdeka Centre poll.

Only two in five Malaysians are happy with the government's performance, compared to four in five when they first came into power.

Tun M's approval ratings also dropped from 71% to 46%.

The Merdeka Centre believes the drop is because of three factors: the perception of our economy, the perception of the administration's performance, and concerns over Malay rights and fair treatment of other races.

In response to the survey, PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the results will help keep the government grounded.

However, he disagreed with the percentage of the survey, saying the firm previously predicted Barisan Nasional would stay in power after GE14.

SPAN praises SYABAS handling of Klang Valley water cut

The National Water Services Commission is very happy with Syabas for how it dealt with the massive water cuts in the Klang Valley.

However, SPAN advised Syabas and all water service operators to prioritize the maintenance of their assets, to avoid emergencies.

The massive water cut affecting 577 areas in the Klang Valley was caused by upgrading work at a water treatment plant, to avoid an explosion.

Coconuts to be in controlled items list?

Coconuts could be included in the list of price controlled items, if a steady supply can be guaranteed.

This comes as the government is working to include more items in the list, which currently includes sugar, flour, petrol and more.
