Critical service allowance no longer meets its criteria
Dec 27, 2019
The critical allowance for 33 civil service schemes will be abolished because they no longer meet the criteria for the allowance.
In another defence of its unpopular move, the Public Service Department explained the RM750 monthly allowance was introduced in 1992 to attract new recruits.
But nowadays there are more medical officers applying for positions, than are needed.
It adds, the government would have spent just over RM1 bil next year, if the critical allowance was kept intact.
