Prince Harry has expressed his sadness at giving up his role in the British Royal family.

In a speech during a charity event, the Prince says the final outcome was not what he and his wife, Meghan Markle, had wanted

He said during his speech, "Our hope was to continue serving the Queen, the Commonwealth, and my military associations but without public funding. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible...but I hope that makes you understand what it had come to. That I would step my family back and to take a step forward into what I hope will be a more peaceful life".

The Queen has formally confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are permitted to step back from royal duties, and this will take effect in the Spring of this year.
