The government is considering harsher penalties for reckless and intoxicated drivers.
De-facto Law Minsiter Datuk Liew Vui Keong says the Cabinet has already agreed that current laws need to be amended, and is now looking into imposing a 20-year prison sentence for offenders.
Current laws carry a jail term of up to only 10 years.
Meanwhile, police say 158 individuals were arrested for drunk driving in KL alone, over the month of January.
