PM or Not PM?
Feb 24, 2020
Malaysia is currently caught in political turmoil, with a shocking resignation, and speculation over new coalitions.
What we DO know for sure know is, that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has accepted Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's resignation as Prime Minister.
In an official statement, the Chief Secretary to the Govt says Tun M has been elected interim Prime Minister until a successor is appointed.
Earlier, Lim Guan Eng said DAP pledges its loyalty to Tun M as Prime Minister.
He also roundly condemned the attempt by several PH leaders and MPs to form a new coalition govt.
Other parties such as Amanah and Sabah's Parti Warisan have also thrown in their support for the 94 year old.
In other significant political events today:
1. PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had an audience with the King
2. Tun M gave up his role as chairperson of Bersatu...
3. While Tan Sri Muyhiddin Yassin announced Bersatu had officially left Pakatan Harapan.
4. Meanwhile PKR fired its deputy chief Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Zuraida Kamaruddin, who then left with several other MPs to form an independant bloc.
Elsewhere, organistions are unhappy with the attempts of creating a backdoor govt, and sees the move as undemocratic and a betrayal to voters.
Bersih 2.0 says IF the Pakatan Harapan administration collapses, there MUST be a general election.
If not, it warned it will organise a mass rally.
