WHO hails Malaysia's handling of COVID-19 outbreak
Mar 27, 2020
The World Health Organisation is pleased with Malaysia’s level of preparedness in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Health Ministry says the WHO is satisfied with the methods we are using - firstly, the Movement Control Order, and secondly, efforts to identify patients for testing, isolation and treatment.
This, as 235 new cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total to 2,031 COVID-19 cases in the country, with a death toll of 23.
A 12-day-old infant has become the youngest COVID-19 patient in the second wave of the outbreak, while the oldest COVID-19 patient is an 83-year-old.
The Health Director-General also noted that 50% of the COVID-19 cases came from the cluster of participants who had attended a religious gathering at the Sri Petaling Mosque late last month.

Govt to develop app to help track COVID-19 patients
The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry says the government will launch a smartphone app that will be able track the contacts of COVID-19 patients in a bid to tackle the outbreak.
This is after Singapore was regarded as one of the most successful countries in terms of contact tracing, having launched a smartphone app called "Trace Together".

There is no curfew in the country
The The Communications and Multimedia Ministry says this is among a list of fake news circulating online in light of the Covid-19 outbreak and the resulting Movement Control Order or MCO.
The Health Ministry has also dismissed claims that Batu Pahat in Johor has been declared a Covid-19 “red zone” for cases.
Meanwhile, the police have denied they have issued a curfew order from 6pm until 7am, supposedly with directives to arrest anyone who breaks the order.
