Malaysia's COVID-19 death toll rises to 43

Mar 31, 2020

Malaysia has reported 6 more COVID-19 deaths.

Health Director General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says this raises the country’s overall
death toll to 43.

Meanwhile, Msia’s total number of infection cases has risen to 2,766 after 140 new cases were
reported today.

94 are in ICU, while 60 need breathing assistance.

So far, 537 patients have made full recoveries, after another 53 were discharged from hospital.

Returning Malaysians to be quarantined in centres for 14 days

Starting on Friday, all Msians returning from overseas will be sent to designated quarantine centres for 14 days.

The Defence Minister says this is to prevent the spread of imported infection cases.

He adds that over 700 Msians were arrested yesterday for going against the Movement Control Order, or MCO.

The minister says this is a slight drop compared to the previous day of more than 800 arrests.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has advised Msians to comply with the MCO to prevent another extension, especially with Ramadhan coming soon.

Malaysia sees three more COVID-19 orange zones

Three new areas have been categorised as COVID-19 orange zones, with each reporting atleast 20 infection cases.

Kuantan, Pahang, along with the Muar and Kulai districts of Johor are the latest areas to be marked.

The Health ministry adds that Msia’s number of red zones remains at 15, with Hulu Langat, Selangor recording the most cases at over 250 infections.
