Decision on second MCO extension to be made next Friday

Apr 03, 2020

A decision will be made next Friday, whether to extend the Movement Control Order.

The Health Director-General says it's now still too early to tell whether the infection rate in the country is improving.

The Defense Ministry also earlier said the government has yet to decide on the MCO extension, adding that the Health Ministry will have to give its input on the matter.

Separately, residents in Selangor are urged to bring along utility bills with their current address, when leaving home during the Movement Control Order.

Police say this is so that residents can prove where they live, in light of the 10km travel limit for those heading out for essential services.

Selangor police say they’re also increasing the number of roadblocks and road closures, especially at entry and exit points of major highways, to reduce non-essential travel.

Meanwhile, Sarawak has eased the 10km radius ruling there, especially for those living in the state’s interior areas.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee says this is because many of these residents live more than 10km away from hospitals and essential services.
