Those who want to donate blood need not worry about being stopped at roadblocks

Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says Malaysians who want to donate blood during the MCO, don’t have to worry about police roadblocks.

The Health Director General says the matter has already been discussed with Bukit Aman, to help address the supply shortage at blood banks…

“Every year, without fail, during Ramadan, we do have a shortage of blood; a 30% shortage is what we are facing now. But we encourage those who want to go to the blood bank in the hospital for donation. We’ve discussed this with the IGP and this is not an issue because even roadblocks we’ve informed them that once you’ve donated blood, we’ll give you a letter in terms of blood donation campaign, etc.”

Separately, the police say more than a quarter of a million Malaysians have applied for permission for inter-state travel via the Gerak Malaysia app.

Deadline for applications is May 1st.
