Government has no plans for stricter restrictions during Aidilfitri

May 15, 2020

The government has no plans to impose tighter restrictions during Hari Raya, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the upcoming festivities.

Health Director General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says instead, each household is advised to ensure that everyone follows existing SOPs.

Meanwhile Malaysia has reported ZERO new COVID-19 fatalities today, meaning the death toll remains at 112.

Also, 88 more patients have recovered from COVID-19 compared to only 36 new infection cases.

This raises Malaysia’s total number of cases to 6,855, with only 1,300 active cases.

KL's Pudu area NOT under EMCO

The Pudu area in KL is not under an Enhanced Movement Control Order.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says authorities are merely increasing restrictions there, to help them conduct COVID-19 screenings on residents.

Meanwhile, the EMCO period at Selayang Baru, Gombak has ended.

Rembau is Malaysia's only COVID-19 red zone with three-digit number in active cases

Rembau, Negeri Sembilan is the country’s only COVID-19 red zone with a three-digit number in active cases.

It reported over 160 cases, some of which are linked to a cluster involving factory workers in Pedas.

Meanwhile, the whole of Penang, Perlis, Kelantan, and Kedah are free of COVID-19.
