The first batch of the Pfizer-BioNtech Covid-19 vaccine will arrive in Malaysia this Sunday.

It will be followed by the rollout of the first phase of the nationwide vaccination drive on February 26th.

The Prime Minister himself will be among the first to receive the jab, followed by frontliners.

This was revealed by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the launch of the National Covid-19 Immunization plan guidebook this morning.

The guidebook outlines the types of vaccines Malaysia has procured…when the different sections of society can start receiving their jabs…as well as how the immunization will be conducted.

Signs of improvement

There are indications that Covid-19 infections in general are on a downward trend.

There were 4,521 recoveries reported yesterday…more than double the number of new cases, which only stood at 2,176.

Selangor once again accounted for most of the new cases…although the number of infections in the state is down to triple digits at 910.

This came as Sabah reported only 97 cases yesterday…the first time in four months the state has reported less than a hundred new infections.

Cops to face action

Eleven senior and low-ranking policemen are set to face disciplinary action, after a teenager was raped by another detainee inside a police lockup in Miri, Sarawak last month.

Bukit Aman says the eleven face either demotion or sacking for negligence and failure to carry out their duties.

More hot days ahead

The Met Department says those in the Peninsular can expect a few more weeks of hot weather.

It says the low rainfall should continue until mid-March…while the high temperatures are only expected to start subsiding from mid-April.
