The Human Resources Ministry agrees with a proposal that employers give their staff a day off to get their Covid-19 vaccine shot.
It says this will give Malaysians confidence to get immunized.
The Ministry, however, says it is up to employers to give the leave…adding that the government cannot declare a special holiday as the vaccinations are not carried out on the same day.
Separately, the HR Ministry is looking to launch an e-wages system soon, so that all employees, including foreign workers are paid their salaries as promised.
The system, which is in the final stages of development, will alert the authorities whenever employers fail to pay their staff within the stipulated period.

The government will ask the Health Ministry to make an early decision on whether interstate travel will be allowed for Hari Raya.
Senior Minister for Security, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says this is to give sufficient time for people to make travel arrangements.
However, he reminded that any decision will be based on a risk assessment by the Health Ministry, to avoid a spike in Covid-19 cases.
This, as 1,510 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday…which is a slight dip from the 1,800 plus infections the day before.
Yesterday also saw eight additional fatalities…bringing the nationwide death toll to 1,321.

There’s been an increase in large-scale corruption cases involving criminal cartels and civil servants, since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic last year.
The MACC says this is likely because of the uncertain economic conditions, that has left many individuals in desperate situations.
In a related development, the MACC chief commissioner wants the government to speed up the use of body cameras for enforcement officials.
He says this is an effective way to curb corrupt practices while on duty.
