State governments and private healthcare are allowed to purchase COVID-19 vaccines other than those available under the National Immunisation Program.

The program’s coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin says the vaccines must be approved by the World Health Organisation, as well as registered with the government’s regulatory agency.

He adds that if these parties are keen to buy vaccines used under the immunization program, they will have to wait as priority is given to cover the Federal govt’s supplies.

A drive thru COVID-19 vaccination center will soon be opened at the Sungai Besi Camp in KL.

The Defence Minister says the center will be used to immunize army personnel along with their family members.

He says the center will also be opened to the public, once vaccinations for these personnel have been completed.

On another note, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says the military will open six more field hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients.

He adds that a modular hospital will be built in three months, which can accommodate over 60 beds.
