World Bank lowers its GDP forecast for Malaysia

Jun 23, 2021

world bank lowers its gdp forecast for malaysia

The World Bank has lowered its 2021 economic forecast for Malaysia.

It now expects GDP to grow by 4.5% this year, compared to its initial prediction of a 6% expansion.

The World Bank says it's due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, which resulted in the ongoing Movement Control Order.

It adds the country's immediate priority must focus on combating the pandemic so that we can gradually reopen the economy and ease restrictions.
