No fee hike for university students
Jul 01, 2021
The Higher Education Ministry has confirmed that there will be no fee hike for students of tertiary-level institutions.
It has also requested that universities not impose activity fees, as most students are not staying on campus amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
This is after it was reported that a civil society group had proposed that the ministry review higher education institution fees in view of the health crisis.
The number of Covid-19 cases stayed above the 6 thousand mark for a second consecutive day.
The Health Ministry reported 6,276 infections yesterday, with Selangor accounting for the bulk of the total.
Another 62 patients had succumbed to the virus.
Payment of additional assistance under Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat to eligible recipients has started.
The cash aid will be credited directly into their accounts.
However, payment will be made in cash through Bank Simpanan Nasional branches for recipients who do not have a bank account.
