PMO: Govt acted legally in revoking emergency ordinances
Jul 30, 2021
The Prime Minister's office has defended its decision not to revoke the emergency ordinances through a vote in Parliament.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin stressed that the move taken by the Cabinet is proper and according to the rule of law.
This is after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong said the government revoked the emergency ordinances without his consent.
The Deputy Prime Minister says the Perikatan Nasional government still has the support of more than 110 MPs despite calls from the opposition for the
cabinet to resign.
Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob also called for calm and warned that an unstable political climate could jeopardise efforts to resolve health and economic crisis.
