Malaysia’s Covid-19 situation remains at a worrying stage
Aug 19, 2021
Malaysia’s Covid-19 situation is still at a worrying stage.
This as the country gradually reopens the economic and social sectors to balance lives and livelihoods.
The Health Ministry reminded the public that they are still striving to flatten the curve, as daily cases are still at an average of 20,000 a day.
Yesterday alone, a record breaking 22,242 Covid-19 cases were reported along with 225 deaths.
Kelantan has the highest number of community clusters reported since last March with 239 out of the 880 nationwide.
Sarawak was a distant second with 171 clusters while Sabah had 94.
A heavy downpour has caused severe flooding in several parts of Penang as well as Kedah, including in Merbok, Gurun, Yan, and villages near the foothills of Gunung Jerai.
Authorities are currently monitoring the situation and are prepared to evacuate villagers who need to be relocated.
