15% Sarawak parents not in favour of child vaccination

Feb 04, 2022

15% sarawak parents not in favour of child vaccination

15% of parents in Sarawak disagree with having their children vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to a survey by the state’s Health Dept, just below 60% of them agree with vaccinations, while the rest were unsure.

Among the main reasons parents disagreed or were unsure is due to concerns of their kids experiencing possible complications after getting the jab.

This comes just a day after Malaysia kicked off its immunisation program for kids aged 5 to 11 dubbed PICKids.

Delay in flood aid due large number of applications

15% sarawak parents not in favour of child vaccination

Selangor blames an unexpectedly large number of applications in Petaling and Klang for the delay in flood aid in the two districts.

It was also because of overlapping applications from heads and members of affected households, which required further screenings.

So far, over RM55 million has been given out to victims, following the flood late last year.

The Perak government has assured that cash aid will be given to all those who were affected by the freak storm there recently.

The state Menteri Besar says he will also discuss with authorities whether to increase the allocation, following claims that some victims did not receive the assistance.

Earlier, he announced that the state government will provide RM300 to each affected household, while RM1,000 will be given by NADMA.
