New isolation protocols will be announced next week for those who’ve been in close contact with a Covid-positive individual.
The Health Minister says there’ve been too many incidences of close contacts of late, which is starting to disrupt daily life.
Khairy Jamaluddin says currently, asymptomatic public health workers who are close contacts no longer need to isolate, but will undergo tests on certain days.
He adds that something similar may be applied for the general public as well.
Meanwhile, Khairy is appealing to employers to give time off for their workers to take their kids for Covid vaccination.
This is to boost vaccination rates among younger kids…because there has been a 160 percent rise in infections for those under the age of 12 this past week.

39 new Covid-19 fatalities were reported nationwide yesterday.
Seventeen of these were classified as brought-in-dead.
Selangor and Sabah both recorded fatalities in the double digits…while the other deaths were in Kelantan, Pahang, Perak, Kedah, Melaka and KL.
This, as we saw a drop in the number of new Covid-18 cases.
26,701 new infections were reported up to midnight yesterday, which is down by over 1,100 cases from the previous day’s record high.
