Barisan Nasional has claimed a landslide victory in yesterday’s Johor state election.

According to the Election Commission’s official tally, BN claimed 40 seats…compared to just 11 for Pakatan Harapan including PKR and Muda.

Perikatan Nasional only managed three seats.

Slightly over half of all eligible voters turned out to cast their ballots.

The EC says voter turnout was only at 54.9 percent.

With that, Barisan Nasional has secured more than the required two-thirds majority, and will form the next state government.

Johor UMNO chief Datuk Hasni Mohamad is also expected to be sworn in as Menteri Besar.

Meanwhile, in the wake of their election showing…Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says he is prepared to step down, if that’s what the component parties want.

The National Disaster Management Agency says all relevant departments have already been getting ready to face the possibility of disasters during the monsoon transition phase.

It comes after Met Malaysia earlier forecast possible thunderstorms from next week until the middle of May…especially in the West Coast and interior of the peninsular, western Sabah…as well as west and central Sarawak.
