A Cabinet reshuffle will be needed if there are underperforming ministers or if circumstances call for a change in lineup.

However, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says it is currently too soon for a shakeup, as it would be unfair for the ministers to be judged after only a year in office.

He also cautioned his Cabinet members not to get too comfortable or complacent, with what they’ve achieved in their first year.

Separately, the PM says the government will continue with the eMadani initiative, to help lower the cost of living.

He says this is a better option compared to giving out blanket subsidies, which often also benefit high-income earners.

-

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development says teenager’s mathematics and reading skills are in an unprecedented decline in dozens of countries, including Malaysia.

It adds that the drop for 2022 is the worst its seen in 23 years…with past school closures due to Covid partly to blame.

-

More awareness and education programs are needed to combat fake job ads.

The Communications and Digital Ministry said this, following the rising number of cases of people being tricked by human trafficking syndicates.

-

The government’s institutional reforms for next year will be more people-centric.

De-facto Law Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said says the focus will include helping more Malaysians out of bankruptcy, strengthening legal aid services, and dealing more effectively with scammers.
