PM Announces Flood Mitigation Measures

The Prime Minister has announced five new projects to reduce the frequency of flooding nationwide.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says it involves an allocation of over 910 million ringgit, and will be implemented as early as next month.
This, as Terengganu saw a slight improvement in its flood situation, with the number of evacuees down to around 2,900 as of this morning.
Neighboring Kelantan remains the worst-affected state with around 19 thousand individuals seeking shelter at relief centers there.
There are also a further 270 evacuees in Pahang and Johor combined.

The Housing and Local Government Ministry says it is working to identify the damage sustained to the homes of flood victims …before taking the appropriate steps to provide assistance.
It also assured that victims in Kelantan and Terengganu will still be helped…even though these states are under Opposition rule.

In a related development, Met Malaysia is expecting wind concentration in the southern peninsular as well as western Sarawak from tomorrow until January 4th.
This could lead to increased humidity, potentially resulting in continuous rain in these areas.

And, more Malaysians are being arrested overseas for being drug mules, with 77 of our nationals detained for the offence since 2021.
Bukit Aman says its worried by the increase and urged Malaysians not to be influenced by suspicious lucrative offers on social media.
