PM Accepts Meta's Apology

The Prime Minister has accepted Meta’s apology, for removing his social media posts about slain Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has also urged the platform to communicate with the government first, if there’s a need to remove any content in the future.

This, after Meta issued an official apology yesterday for removing the PM’s posts, blaming the incident on an operational error.

Authorities have defended the decision to reduce the maternity leave for public medical officers in Hulu Langat to 60 days.

The reduction was due to a shortage of such officers in the district.

The Director-General of Public Service explained that the move does not violate maternity leave regulations... and will help ensure that public health services can still run smoothly.

The Prime Minister is urging NGOs to continue raising awareness about road safety.

He says the high accident rate, especially among motorcyclists, is concerning because it reveals a weakness in traffic law enforcement.

The PM said this after the Alliance for A Safe Community paid him a courtesy visit, and also expressed similar worries.

Reports say Nobel prize-winner Muhammad Yunus has been approached to lead the interim government in Bangladesh, after longtime ruler Sheikh Hasina was forced to flee the country amid violent protests demanding her resignation.

And, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has picked Minnesota governor Tim Walz as her running mate for November’s US presidential election.
