Search Resumes For Sinkhole Victim

Aug 25, 2024

search resumes for sinkhole victim

There are no plans to extend the search area, for the Indian national who’s missing after falling into a sinkhole along Jalan Masjid India on Friday.

The Dang Wangi police chief says the search and rescue operation will continue to focus on the initial location, in the hopes of finding new leads.

Meanwhile, the Federal Territories Ministry says the actual cause of the sinkhole can only be determined once a full report on the incident is complete.

In the meantime, it says steps will be taken to prevent a recurrence, including by doing a re-mapping of underground facilities in KL.

-

Separately, the FT Ministry will be reviewing its SOP’s to better manage flash floods in the capital.

This, following last Thursday’s flooding near the World Trade Center that damaged dozens of vehicles.

-

The government has already activated a special operations room to monitor and prevent the spread of Mpox.

The Health Ministry says the responsibilities include conducting temperature screenings at all entry points…and coordinating with our ASEAN neighbours on prevention and control measures.

-

The National Disaster Management Agency says there are still some 700 victims seeking shelter at flood relief centers in Perak, Sarawak, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

-

Meanwhile, the Fire and Rescue Department is urging people to be extra vigilant when enjoying water-based recreation activities during the rainy season…and to be alert for any sudden changes in weather.
