school bus driver nabbed over socmed posts

A school bus driver in Johor has been remanded for 5 days, after he was arrested for posting videos of his underaged female passengers without parental consent.  

This, amid a huge outcry over his posts, and inappropriate remarks about the girls in the video. 

According to Johor police he’s being investigated for illegally recording the victims, and for non-physical sexual assault.

Meanwhile, social media content creators, especially among teachers, have been reminded to be careful when uploading posts featuring children.  

The Communications Minister says it’s to ensure they don’t break laws on publishing images of children.

The Communications Minister also says it’s in talks with social media companies to develop a social media code of conduct. 

It will outline the legal framework for social media platforms operating in Malaysia, and the consequences of breaching the law.

According to the Federal Territories Minister, the family of the recent Masjid India sinkhole victim has received donations from several quarters, including DBKL and corporate figures. 

Meanwhile, KL’s mayor has again insisted that the Masjid India area is still safe, and no stalls or buildings have been ordered to close. 

She says only a 200 metre stretch has been closed off for rehabilitation and construction work.

Cops have warned of scammers on social media, who are offering people fake discounts for their electricity bills.  

According to Bukit Aman, this scam has caused losses of nearly RM280 thousand ringgit since March.

The Ministries of Religious Affairs, and Domestic Trade and Cost of Living will soon discuss a proposal to place cigarettes in the non-halal section of shops.

This is in line with the fatwa declaring cigarettes as haram.
