The government could opt for a tiered system to implement the RON95 subsidy.

The Treasury Secretary-General says that while the details of the subsidy mechanism have yet to be finalized, authorities are considering using a system where those who use less fuel pay lower prices.

He adds that databases linked to identification cards as well as e-wallets and debit cards could also be used for the new subsidy mechanism.

The Health Ministry says it will focus on areas that receive the most complaints about these offences.

It is also encouraging members of the public to lodge complaints by getting in touch with the Ministry’s operations room…adding that the complainants’ information will be kept confidential.

This, as the ministry said it has conducted checks at over 350 premises around KL and Putrajaya…since the implementation of the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act earlier this month.
