Some Civil Servants Forced Into Corruption
Feb 14, 2025

CUEPACS claims that some civil servants are forced to accept bribes, due to pressure from certain parties.
The umbrella body for civil service unions says there’ve even been cases where employees receive death threats, or have their families harassed if they refuse a bribe.
It further explains that the ones offering the bribes are the root cause of the country’s corruption problem, adding that most civil servants are just trying to do their jobs honestly.
This comes amid widespread frustration at Malaysia remaining in 57th place, in the latest Corruption Perception Index.
