Pak Lah Leaves Lasting Legacy

Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will be remembered for his many contributions to the country.
Social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye says during his six-year term as Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah always championed national unity and good governance.
He also pushed for a more progressive and inclusive nation.
Meanwhile, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki praised Tun Abdullah's bold leadership in fighting corruption.
It was during his premiership, that the Anti-Corruption Agency, or BPR, was transformed into the MACC, making it an independent commission.
Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan praised Tun Abdullah's commitment to developing Malaysia's human capital..
Among other things, he pushed through a 5-day work week, which was implemented in 2005.
He also declared salary increases of between 7.5% to 35%, for civil servants.
Meanwhile, govt spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadhzil described Tun Abdullah as a grounded statesman whose legacy should be honoured and remembered by future generations.
He adds that the Communications Ministry will release a special documentary that will highlight his achievements.
Tun Abdullah, who was affectionately known as Pak Lah, passed away yesterday at the age of 85.
He was laid to rest this afternoon after Zohor prayers, at the National Heroes Mausoleum.
