Aug 11, 2025

kpm reaffirms anti-bullying policy

The Education Ministry assures it has a zero-tolerance policy towards school bullying.

Deputy Minister Wong Kah Woh also assured that the ministry will never protect any individuals who are accused of bullying, and will give its full cooperation to any police investigations.

Meanwhile, the Ministry is taking several steps to ensure that schools remain free from the menace.

This includes updating its SOPs on disciplinary issues, and setting up a special committee to look into all safety aspects involving schools.

It's also upgrading its online complaints portal, to allow bullying victims to lodge reports anonymously.

This, following the death of 13-year-old religious school student Zara Qairina.

Also, MARA insists it will maintain its hardline stance against bullying at its education institutions, including MRSMs.

Its chairman said this, after revealing that he has received threats of lawsuits from the parents of former MRSM students who were expelled for bullying.

The govt says phase three of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah payments will be given out starting tomorrow, which will see some 8.6 million Malaysians receiving cash aid of up between RM150 to RM650.

Meanwhile, people have been reminded to be wary of potential scammers, who will try to cheat them of their STR cash.

The Galen Centre has proposed raising the tax on cigarettes and other tobacco products to at least 77 sen per stick under Budget 2026.

The think-tank says this would add another RM770 million in govt revenue, which can be channeled to healthcare services.
