The Health Ministry has opened an investigation into allegations that a woman had died after consuming a viral skin lightening supplement.

The Ministry’s Food Safety and Quality Division says initial investigations have shown that the product in question contained a banned substance.

It also found that the product was being sold on e-commerce platforms and social media sites.

Tech giant Meta has refuted allegations that its not doing enough to curb online scams.

It told the NST that its been aggressively taking a full range of actions to address the matter, adding that neither the company, nor advertisers or users want fraud or scam content on the platform.

This, following previous reports that about 10 percent of Meta’s annual global revenue or about 16 billion dollars, came from ads linked to scams and banned goods.

Motorists are advised to be more careful with their MyKad, when purchasing fuel under the Budi95 subsidy scheme.

This, following incidents of people accidentally leaving their ID behind at petrol kiosks.

The Petrol Dealers Association of Malaysia says that while such incidents do not happen frequently, there have been isolated cases, especially during rush hour.

Authorities have found six more bodies, believed to be from a boat carrying migrants that sank along the Malaysia-Thai border.

The Maritime Enforcement Agency says this brings the number of migrant deaths to seven…while a further 13 were found safe.

And elsewhere, at least two people have been killed, while nearly a million have been evacuated… as a super typhoon made landfall in the Philippines with winds of over 185 kilometers an hour.
