Govt To Crack Down On Illegal Bitcoin Mining

The government is stepping up efforts to curb electricity theft linked to Bitcoin mining.
As such, it will set up a new committee to study long-term measures to do so– including the possibility of banning the activity entirely.
The committee’s first meeting is expected to take place at the end of the year, and will involve multiple ministries and enforcement bodies.
Earlier, the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry revealed that TNB recorded losses of over four and a half billion ringgit since 2020 due to illegal bitcoin mining.

MAHB is stepping up efforts to hold the negligent contractor responsible for last week’s rainwater leakage incident at KLIA 1.
As such, it’s issued a stop-work order to conduct an internal investigation and order immediate corrective actions.
The Transport Ministry also revealed that the contractor holds a nearly 5.3 million ringgit contract which is set to run until April next year.

The Housing and Local Government Ministry will allocate 60 million ringgit next year towards housing for low-income households nationwide.
Over 45 million ringgit will be used for home repairs, while the remaining will be channeled towards new housing construction.

The Ministry also says all business premises in major cities must have clean toilets if they want to renew their operating licenses starting next year.
The move will be implemented in phases to ensure clean toilets become the norm nationwide in light of Visit Malaysia Year.
