SOP leeway given to reopening schools
Jun 23, 2020
Schools will have a bit of leeway in implementing COVID-19 SOPs, when they reopen tomorrow.
The Education Ministry says they can make minor changes to the guidelines, so long as they still comply with the basic SOPs set by the government.
The Ministry adds that observers from district education offices will be placed at each school to monitor the situation.
Schools will reopen tomorrow for secondary students who are sitting for key exams this year.
Kindergartens and preschools to reopen as scheduled
Kindergartens and preschools will reopen on July 1st, as planned.
The Deputy Education Minister says it can't be postponed, as parents are returning to work and have nowhere to send their kids.
The NUTP called for the postponement saying many preschools and kindergartens aren't prepared to reopen.
Malaysia reports just three new COVID-19 cases
Only three new COVID-19 cases were reported today, and nine patients were discharged from hospital.
The Health Ministry says this means that 95% of Malaysia's 8,590 cases have fully recovered from the coronavirus.
The number of active cases is 283.
Only three patients are in ICU and the death toll remains unchanged at 121.
