A General Operation Force member has been shot dead, and another was seriously injured, while they were on duty at the Malaysia-Thailand border post near Padang Besar, Perlis.
Authorities are blaming local and foreign smugglers for the attack, which they believe is in retaliation to efforts to tighten security along the border, which made it harder for them to conduct their activities.
So far, 6 people have been arrested over the shooting.
According to Perlis police, 2 suspects were detained in Malaysia while the other four were nabbed by Thai authorities.
A total of 13 suspects are believed to be involved in the shooting.
