There are calls for a committee to tackle bus accidents

Jan 05, 2017

The govt has been urged to set up a permanent committee to tackle accidents involving vehicles like express and tour buses.

The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission says such a committee should involve the police, JPJ and SPAD, to ensure that all traffic laws are enforced efficiently.

It adds, such a commission is urgently needed, due to a number of fatal accidents involving buses.

Meanwhile, the govt is looking into setting an age limit for express bus drivers, to help reduce the possibility of accidents.

The PM's Dept says many express bus drivers are pensioners who may struggle on long-distance trips.
