PM rejects proposals for joint probe into assassination

Feb 20, 2017

PM Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has rejected North Korea's proposal to conduct a joint inquiry into Kim Jong-nam's assassination.

He says he has complete faith in Malaysian police conducting the probe.

Pyongyang's ambassador to Malaysia had proposed the joint investigation after criticizing police investigations so far.

The ambassador also denied ever confirming that the victim was Jong Nam, the half-brother of leader Kim Jong Un.

He also appeared to blame rival South Korea for the incident, claiming that Seoul wanted to divert attention away from its own political scandals.
