1,500 fake online social media accounts in Malaysia will be deleted.

The accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram were set up between January and June.

The Communications and Multimedia Ministry noticed them after receiving public complaints.

The accounts are accused of being used to spread fake news and launch political attacks.

Investigations are ongoing to determine if legal action will be taken against the accounts.
