Non-communicable diseases responsible for over 70% fatalities in Malaysia

Apr 06, 2017

Non-communicable diseases are responsible for more than 70% of fatalities in the country.

The Health Ministry says an increasing number of young people are also contracting these ailments, including diabetes, hypertension and heart disease.

This is due to an increasingly sedentary lifestyle among teenagers, with only less than a quarter of Malaysian youngsters keeping active.

The Ministry adds that it's also concerned by the number of teenage smokers in the country, which rose 15% last year.
