1 in every 3 Malaysian adults suffer from mental health issues

Mental health problems have been shown to increase employee absenteeism, lower rates of productivity and increase costs. 

In conjunction with World Mental Health Day today, we spoke to University Kebangsaan Malaysia senior lecturer, Dr. Chong Sheau Tsuey told us, the most common symptoms of an impending stress breakdown are anxiety and depression.

Dr. Chong has also suggested a number of ways for Malaysians to deal with stress, including exercising three times per week and having social support from family and friends.

The Health Ministry says according to recent figures, one in every three adults in the country is suffering from some form of mental health issues.
