UNICEF welcomes recommendation to amend Education Act

UNICEF has welcomed the recommendation of the special task force on tahfiz shools, to amend the Education Act to include private religious schools as well.

It says the compulsory registration of such schools is important, to coordinate its administration and allow for financial assistance by the Federal government.

UNICEF's statement comes in the wake of the tahfiz school fire in Keramat, which killed 21 students and 2 wardens.
