Retailers not permitted to impose surcharges for debit and credit cards

Retailers are not premitted to impose surcharges for payments using debit and credit cards.

BNM says this is under the rules of international card schemes under the Payment Card Reform Framework.

It advised consumers to lodge a complaint with their respective banks or payment card issuers if they encouter such act.
